Pedal to the Meadow

Pedal to the Meadow 2016 is the seventh annual running of the official bicycle hill climb race on the island of Kaua`i (Hawai`i), presented by Tradewind Cycling Team. It starts on the west side of the island and climbs along the Waimea Canyon rim up to the Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Koke`e State Park. It is a scenic and challenging climb that starts at hot dry sea level and ends deep in the cool wet upland forest of the Garden Island's interior.

Tahitian Festival

In 2016, Heiva I Kaua`i celebrates the 15th anniversary of a unique, exciting and colorful Tahitian dance and drumming competition. This annual event provides a venue for the next generation of performers to present their talent, skill and cultural knowledge to an audience of more than 1000 attendees daily! On Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7, from 9am to 5pm, come and enjoy balmy sea breezes and whispering palm trees at this community-sponsored, family-centered celebration of Tahitian culture at the Kapa`a Beach Park (4-1464 Kuhio Highway). Participants from Hawai`i, the Mainland and Japan, with a range in age from toddler to elder, perform solo and group competition and exhibition dances portraying legends and stories of Tahiti. Event admission is $6 at the door. Children age 6 and under are admitted free.

Taste of Hawai`i

The Taste of Hawaii is the original food and wine tasting event for the islands and on Kauai. Produced by the Rotary Club of Kapaa and countless community volunteers, this year marks our 32nd year of hosting The Ultimate Sunday Brunch. Koloa Plantation Days Rodeo

Koloa Plantation Days is held on Kauai's south shore every year in July. The many ethnic groups that came to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations, and the Hawaiians who welcomed them, are celebrated through music, dance, costumes, and food throughout this ten-day festival. Kaua`i Poke Fest

The annual Kauai Poke Fest with celebrity chef and the godfather of poke, Sam Choy includes live entertainment, 20 professional & amateur chefs creating unique and delicious poke dishes for everyone to try, and over 600 pounds of fresh ahi poke. All proceeds from this festival will be donated to The Maui Strong Fund providing resources to support the immediate and long-term recovery needs for the people and places affected by the devastating Maui wildfires.

Garden Island Orchid Show

Twice a year, the society conducts orchid shows. These shows provide enjoyment to the public, generate interest in orchids, and raise funds for society activities. The Spring Fantasy Orchid Show is held for one weekend during March or April in the recreation hall at the United Church of Christ in Hanapepe. Admission is free. In addition to enjoying a beautiful display of orchid plants, those attending may purchase orchid plants as well as refreshments. The Orchids in Paradise Show is held in conjunction with the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair in August. The society display is quite elaborate and gives all members an opportunity to participate. The display is located in the Farm Bureau exhibits tent. The society also conducts orchid plant sales in the commercial tent.
