Good To Know Kauai Travel Tips

HomeKauai Island InfoGood To Know Kauai Travel Tips

A Hawaii vacation is a dream for many travelers, and making it come true can form some of the best vacation memories. If you’re lucky enough to be heading to the Hawaiian Island of Kauai for a vacation, planning ahead some of the small details can make a good vacation even better. Consider these Kauai travel tips before your vacation!

Consider Traveling To Kauai During Off-Peak Season

Kauai’s busiest months for tourism fall between mid-December to mid-April and again from mid-June to mid-September. Travelers who have a flexible schedule and are able to travel outside of these peak tourist times can land better deals on airfare, accommodations, and activities, not to mention fewer visitors to contend with on Kauai’s beaches. If your schedule allows, consider traveling to Kauai during the off-peak travel season!

Book Ahead

Especially if you’ll be vacationing on Kauai during peak travel season, be sure to book ahead any of your must-do activities to avoid disappointment. Other conveniences and activities such as car rentals and boat excursions tend to sell out quickly and often must be booked months in advance. However, for those who are doing last-minute planning, there are still many options for enjoying your stay! Many activities such as hitting the beach, participating in water activities, and heading out for a hike can still be enjoyed without advance reservations.

Find Balance in the Itinerary

While it can be tempting to lounge around on Kauai’s pristine white sand beaches for the entirety of your stay, planning at least a couple of activities will allow you to further appreciate the beauty of the island. On the other hand, don’t pack the itinerary so full that you don’t have time to relax and experience the laid-back pace of island living. Planning a few Kauai activities in advance will help you find balance in the itinerary. Consider taking a surf lesson, hiking a scenic trail, or exploring the underwater world with a morning of snorkeling. And of course, there are many top Kauai beaches on which to lounge!

Select Central Accommodations

If you plan on visiting sights on both the north and south shores, consider selecting central accommodations along the island’s convenient east coast. Known as the Royal Coconut Coast, the east coast offers its share of beautiful white sand beaches, waterfalls, restaurants, and shopping venues. It’s also the perfect jumping off point for activities around the island. Check out some east coast Kauai accommodations here!
