Exploring Kauai Island

HomeExploring Kauai Island

With a location along the east coast, you’ll enjoy a central home base for exploring Kauai Island from our Kauai Condos. Kauai’s east coast is home to scenic white sand beaches, waterfalls, and a variety of local restaurants and boutiques. In addition, both the north and south shores are just a short drive away, affording the opportunity for day trips to other Kauai attractions!

Exploring Cocount Coast

Kauai’s eastern shoreline is known as the Coconut Coast, and you’ll find plenty of swaying palms here that make it apparent why it’s earned this nickname. Small hidden beaches are tucked all along the coast, including sheltered beaches perfect for families. For surfing and boogie boarding along the east coast, consider spending the day at Kalapaki Beach or Kealia Beach, favorites of both residents and visitors alike. If this sounds like the perfect spot for you, be sure to take a look at all of our beautiful condos on the Coconut Coast.

Wonderful Beaches

Kalapaki Beach boasts an onsite beach rental gear shop and opportunities to book lessons, making it convenient for those wanting to take a surf lesson or try stand up paddle boarding, among other activities. The lifeguarded Kealia Beach further up the east coast is popular for swimming and boogie boarding, especially on the northern end. More advanced surfers can also enjoy the nearshore break here.

Scenic Ocean Views for Miles

Another favorite along Kauai’s Coconut Coast is the Ke Ala Hele Makalae Path, a paved multiuse path that extends for miles, following the contour of the shoreline. Passing multiple beaches and boasting stunning ocean views all along the route, this path is a great spot for enjoying a walk, jog, or bike ride. Bike rental shops are located convenient to the path, making it easy to book rentals and spend a couple of hours cruising the coast. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, downtown Kapa’a offers a variety of local restaurant options from casual food trucks to upscale fare. With many of the restaurants and shops just a block off the path, it’s easy to add multiple stop-off points along your route!

Waterfalls to Explore

Two of the island’s most easily accessible waterfalls are also located on the island’s east side. While many of Kauai’s waterfalls require a hike to reach, the east coast’s Opaeka’a Falls and Wailua Falls are easily accessible from a viewing point with a convenient nearby parking lot. Wailua Falls is especially impressive, with its double cascade plummeting over 80 feet into a deep pool below. The viewing point is near the top of the falls, so you can appreciate its beauty up close!
